BIO
For Nashville based multi-instrumentalist Brian Purwin, music has always been a driving force in his life. Learning classical piano at an early age, Brian quickly shed the sheet music and began improvising. He began playing violin “late”, at the age of eleven, and quickly made the leap from elementary school orchestra to Juilliard pre College. As a teenager, Brian had the honor of performing numerous times at Carnegie Hall, Alice Tully Hall, and other prestigious venues throughout the northeast. Brian studied classical violin at New England Conservatory, but his interests again diverged to include Jazz, Fusion, Funk, Bluegrass, Celtic. This interest took him back to NYC to study jazz and other genres at the New School for Jazz and Contemporary Music. Brian’s dedication and passion for his craft has brought him many wonderful opportunities. Most recently, Brian can be heard playing keyboards and violin across the globe with the country/southern rock band A Thousand Horses. While not touring, Brian can be found in the studio, practicing, or anywhere there is music to be played! An avid educator and teacher, many of Brian’s students have gone on to study music at prestigious conservatories and have professional careers of their own.
